## What is OPC-UA?

**OPC-UA (Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture)** is a universal language for machines and software in factories and industrial environments. It helps different devices and programs from different brands communicate safely and reliably.

**In simple terms:** OPC-UA is like a universal translator that lets all your machines and software talk to each other, no matter who made them.

## Why use OPC-UA?

- **Vendor-neutral:** Works with equipment from any manufacturer.
- **Platform-independent:** Not tied to Windows, so it also runs on Linux and macOS.
- **Secure:** Built-in authentication, encryption, and message signing.
- **Scalable:** Handles small setups or thousands of devices.
- **Ideal for IIoT:** Perfect for modern, connected factories.
