## Prerequisites

- Ignition Gateway 8.3 or higher
- Java 17, which ships with Ignition 8.3
- Factry Historian v8.2 or higher, deployed and reachable from the Ignition Gateway host
- Collector token from Factry Historian (generated under Collectors -> see [Configuring the Ignition Module](docId:7kE9dytzlGjt-UVC6eDST))
- Network path open between the Ignition Gateway host and Factry Historian

The module is free and open-source, and needs no Ignition license key. Factry Historian is licensed separately.

## Installation

**Step 1: Download the module**

Download the .modl file:

- [GitHub releases](https://github.com/factrylabs/factry-historian-ignition-module/releases)

**Step 2: Install via Ignition Gateway**

1. Open Ignition Gateway admin (typically [http://localhost:8088](http://localhost:8088))
2. Navigate to **Platform > System > Modules**
3. Click "Install or Upgrade a Module"
4. Select the downloaded .modl file
5. Accept the module certificate when prompted
6. Restart the Gateway. Modules are loaded at startup, so the module only comes up after a restart
7. Confirm the module appears in the module list with status: Running

Accepting the certificate is only needed the first time. Upgrades use the same steps, restart included, and keep existing historian profiles and their settings.
