Google OAuth can be used as an identity provider for Factry Historian, allowing users to sign in with their existing Google Workspace accounts.
This simplifies user management and improves security by relying on Google’s OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect authentication platform.

:::hint{type="warning"}
Factry Historian **does not automatically create user accounts** upon Google login.
Each user must first be added manually in the Historian administration interface.

:::hint{type="warning"}
Group mapping is **not supported** when using Google OAuth. Users must be **manually assigned to groups**.

## Requirements

Before setting up Google authentication, make sure that:

- Factry Historian is accessible over **HTTPS**.
- You have **administrative access** to a **Google Cloud project**.
- Users exist in Factry Historian with a **username matching their Google login**.
