## Introduction

In this How-To guide, we will describe how to configure Factry Historian for two use cases around energy. These are:

1. [Energy Monitoring with Factry Historian](docId\:OSuCaSjuPTjVI22cv-QvD)
2. [Energy Attribution with Factry Historian](docId\:SL5XdZw20sBPj-e8X8chJ)

For each use case, we will also configure Grafana dashboards. We will do so using the [Faketory demo dataset](docId\:tJw2vWPK12gU3Z5AWHr4a).

## Prerequisites

Make sure you have the following prepared:

- An instance of Factry Historian
If you do not have an instance of Factry Historian at your disposal, you can run it locally using our [Docker setup guide](docId\:MYrFSdThXLh5xQK06iK-m).
- Data from Faketory loaded as measurements.
Consult the [Docker setup guide](docId\:MYrFSdThXLh5xQK06iK-m) or the [Faketory](docId\:tJw2vWPK12gU3Z5AWHr4a) pages for more information.
- A configured Faketory [Asset tree](docId\:iN_ezeGWrOTYDEZ3cgrYE) and associated [Events](docId:9v8E0C-mKyeQdC85Wpd9H).
- Installed and configured [Factry Historian Datasource plugin for Grafana](docId:9enC3pgV14ed-p2oATbtJ).

We recommend loading all data for the Faketory in a separate organization in Factry Historian and configuring the datasource plugin against this organization.
