Updating a collector automatically

this page explains how to update collectors automatically from within factry historian updates can be fetched directly from the portal or manually uploaded if needed enabling update checks to allow historian to automatically check for collector updates go to configuration > general > collector updates enable allow historian to check for collector updates optionally, adjust the update check interval to your preferred frequency available updates overview navigate to configuration > updates to see all updates that are available, either fetched automatically or manually uploaded the updates page shows version operating system architecture manually uploading an update updates can be uploaded manually if automatic update checks are not configured or factry historian does not have access to the client portal two files are required the update binary the update metadata file these files can be downloaded from the https //portal factry cloud or provided by factry support to upload the files, click the upload button on the updates page and select the files updating a collector in the collectors overview page, collectors that can be updated show the update available icon click the collector to view its details page , showing the current version and the latest available version click install update and select the version to which you want to update click submit the update file will be sent to the collector, which will then update itself and restart automatically the update progress can be tracked in the collector’s health history the collectors overview page expected outcome after updating a collector the collector runs the new version it reconnects automatically to the historian existing measurements continue without interruption the collectors overview page shows the updated version troubleshooting collector fails to update check network connectivity between the historian and the collector verify the update file is correct and not corrupted ensure sufficient permissions to write/update files on the collector host collector restarts but does not appear online confirm the collector service restarted successfully review logs on the collector host for errors verify the collector is configured with the correct api url and token automatic updates not appearing check that allow historian to check for collector updates is enabled ensure the historian can access the client portal refresh the updates page after some time to see newly fetched updates
